About me:

Hi! I'm Madeline. I like playing, watching, discussing, and reading/writing about sports. As a communication professional with a background in English and media studies, I understand the ways that language, text, and media construct and influence reality. As a lifelong athlete, I am also a fervent advocate for women's sports as vehicles for empowerment and leadership for young women. Through my experience in sports, my endeavors in writing, and my time as an athlete, I've developed the ability to curate powerful messages, and I believe that the messages we create with media and language are our most powerful tools in building community through sport.

To really get to know me, follow the link below to read a story from my earliest endeavor in journalism as the Editor-In-Chief of my high school newspaper. This story, "How sports saved us," remains one of my favorite things I've ever written. My writing has come a long way since then, but I have yet to write a piece that is more true to myself, a piece that better captures my passion for and belief in sports.
